Nokia And Loudeye Team For Mobile Music.
The Register points to a press release from Nokia and Loudeye. They have entered a multi-year agreement to provide music online to a mobile handset. The difference between this deal and the one by Motorola and Apple is the owner of the store. Loudeye provide the software for companies to provide music online, they don’t manage this themselves. So the agreement appears to be a software development deal, where third parties can run the store with the application provided on new Nokia phones. For Australian’s it’ll be a race between the Nokia application and Apple releasing iTunes Music Store down under with a compatible Motorola. Loudeye may have a head start, because DestraMusic is said to be a Loudeye customer.
