Podcasting.
Gadget Lounge has been playing with Podcasts the last few days, and we’ve decided that we need more travel time to listen to all the content.
For those not familiar with the new medium, it’s a way for amateurs to broadcast audio over the net so anyone can listen to the “show” on their iPod (or other MP3 player). Using Mac or PC software people can record a show, publish via an RSS feed which an application like iPodderX or iPodder (even available for the a Pocket PC) can then download for later listening. Content ranges from gadgets to music or even regional news. Already there is a substantial growing list of shows.
Engadget wrote a how to for all the budding wannabe celebrities on how they can record their own Podcasts. Adam Curry, European music personality, seems to be leading the charge with the iPodder resource site. He’s got his own, interesting, funny and engaging Podcast called The Daily Source Code. It’s brilliantly professional-amateur show when he gets interrupted by his dogs wanting to be let in or his wife offering him dinner. Engadget, the U.S. gadget news site has just begun their own Podcast found here.
If anyone discovers an Aussie Podcast be sure to let us know.
