Crowe Says iTunes Music Store A Week Away in Australia.

Here’s the question. Was Russell Crowe just speculating like the rest of us, or does he really know?

Russell Crowe appeared on The John Laws radio show this morning to promote his latest solo music to an Australian audience. At about 10:45am Crowe got talking about availability of his work he mentioned that: “you can download some of music from iTMS which is available in australia on the 28th [of April]”.

Also, is the [of April] an addition by AppleTalk Australia, or did he just say “on the 28th”, in which case it could still be next month.

Regardless, this is still hot news for iTunes lovers. Bring it on we say!

Update : (April 24, 2005) You can hear the audio of Russell’s statement here in M4A format thanks to Joz

Update : (April 24, 2005) Bexta, Aussie dance artist, also spills the beans on her website, and suggests Australian iTunes Music Store is due within the month.

iTMS for Oz - we can only hope this latest rumour is right
Richard of the Gadget Lounge has spotted a report that Russell Crowe (in his role as musical recording superstar) has commented that Apple will be launching iTunes Music Store in Australia on the 28th - presumably of April. Link: Gadget

If true (fingers crossed), it’s very interesting timing (to say the very least) - coming right on the heels (or even before?) of the release of Tiger.

I think the date has more to do with it being the 2nd anniversary of the introduction of iTMS.

There seems to be some talk this morning (Wed AM) of people successfully accessing the AU store over at AppleTalk ( http://forums.appletalk.com.au/index.php?showtopic=6874&st=90 ). Frustatingly though, there seems to be scant exact details - but the common factor seems to be Mac users - or perhaps more accurately .Mac account holders (I’m on Win, and aren’t having any luck).

Might be a page to watch throughtout today as another coupla comments have been added today, the latest suggesting from someone the store was only open for a short while?
