Widgets, Widgets and More Widgets.
For Tiger users there is a nice new Widget farm available at Widget Machine. I think the site is for Firefox and Safari only. Very nice UI mind you. There are a few widgets available now, some free and some for a fee, but worth keeping an eye on.
If your keen on a broad range then check out DashboardWidgets or the Apple Dashboard section.

www.samurize.com has been a favourite of mine for a while now. Free, easily customizable, and a nice little community forum with examples and help and competitions.
