Most Stylish Australian Cyber Cafe.
Yahoo! Mail has announced the winners of the Internet Cafe Awards to mark the 10th anniversary of the world’s first cyber cafe in London’s West End. Australia did so well that the winners list has Australia defaced with the letters WINNERS blocking all view. Unfortunately we only had one cafe mentioned in their eBook. So, congratulations to e:fiftyfive (Basement, 55 Elizabeth Street, Melbourne) who ended up in the most stylish section of the ebook, titled “Internet cafe?s the world‚Äôs best THE ROUGH GUIDETO”. Interestingly, their research suggests that “69% of us email people back home within days of landing on foreign soil”. A UK number of course, but probably translates to Aussies.
Timbuktu may have won the award for the most remote cafe, but hats of to anyone who uses Namche Cyber Cafe, which you can find 5400m up Everest.
