Apples Colourful Casing.

This news is a bit old because the speculation started when the patent was filed early this year, but given that the patent just got accepted it’s worth a mention. Apple has a patent for a computer case that changes colour, controlled by a RGB LED and a white LED. The Register speculates that the case may be selected at purchase, or more likely by an option in OS X. Real gossip gets going when we start to explore the options for the next iPods with the casing.

Super-Coffee From Brazil.

Thank God for the Brazilians. Why no other government has realised that the worlds productivity depends on the little sauce, we’re not sure. They’ve hacked the genome of the coffee bean, and plan to use the results to create a “super-coffee”, of which the thought will probably keep us up all tonight. Apparently the super blend will have a richer taste, be more aromatic and resistant to disease and frost. Bring it on.

Artista 200E

Bernina Artista 200EHere’s how seriously GadgetLounge take their gadgets. When a gadget loving freak’s mother wanted a new sewing machine a few months back, what’d she buy? That’s right, a Windows Powered sewing machine. It’s really the lazy person’s sewing machine, as you just draw your design, download it to the machine using either the supplied CD-ROM drive, or a USB connection to a host PC, set up the thread, set a speed and push go. Obviously, that’s for the embroidery, but it can even sew a regular straight stitch. Amazing!

Now, if we can all just pretend that none of us know anything about sewing machines… thanks.

LCD Over Supply.

According to DCN LCDs are soon to be in over supply. This should hopefully mean even cheaper displays for all of us. It looks like most manufacturers are expecting between a 3 and 10 percent over supply, but these numbers could be too high depending on component manufacturers.

This is good news for everyone, as we think that LCDs are far superior to use when you’re sitting in front of a PC for extended periods of time.
