New Canon Digital Line-Up
Canon have announced their impressive new line up of digital cameras.
Canon has the prosumers covered with the EOS 20D and PowerShot G6, which we reported on a couple of weeks ago. The more consumer versions are the PowerShot S70 and two new PowerShot A series cameras, the A95 and the A400.
Update: DP Review have an EOS-20D preview and a PowerShot G6 preview.

The EOS 20D features include an 8.2 megapixel sensor, up to 23 frames at a rate of 5 fps, compatibility with the EF-S lens system and a 1.6x conversion factor. The other regular prosumer features are there, like flexible auto focussing system, 35 zone metering with different weightings, selectable colour spaces, up to 1/8000 sec. shutter speeds and USB 2.0 connectivity.
The 20D will be available from late-September, with the body priced at $2799. The new 10-22mm EF-S mount lens will be available nationally from mid-November, at $1399, and the 17-85mm EF-S mount lens starts shipping in mid-October for $1099.

The PowerShot G6 has a 7.1 megapixel sensor, f2.0-3.0 4x optical zoom, 2″ rotatable LCD monitor, manual flash output, 9 point autofocus, various metering modes and preset and programmable white balance settings. You can also use telephoto and wide angle lens adapters, as in previous models.
The PowerShot G6 will be available from September with retail pricing set at $1199.

The PowerShot S70 also features a 7.1 megapixel sensor and 9 point autofocussing. It also has a f2.8-5.3 28-100mm equivalent 3.6x optical zoom lens, 3 light metering modes and 12 white balance settings.
You should be able to get it from September for a retail price of $1099.

The PowerShot A95 appears to be a 5.0 megapixel upgrade of the PowerShot A85. It has an f2.8-4.9 3x optical zoom (38-114mm equivalent) lens, 21 (!) different shooting modes, 5 preset and 1 customisable white balance settings, and all the other features of the DiG!C processor. It will also accept the lens adapters of some previous A series models.
Look for it in stores from September, with a price-tag less than the retail of $649.

Canon’s PowerShot A400 is their new entry level camera. Entry level cameras have obviously moved on, because this one sports a 3.2 megapixel sensor, DiG!C processing, 2.2x optical zoom, 8 shooting modes, 7 preset white balance settings, ISO50-400 speed settings, PictBridge support, 9 point intelligent auto focussing and 60 second sound memo recording.
All the above can be yours for $299 from September.
