Google seems to be going ahead with its plans of expanding its Google Book search feature. Google Book Search is currently in a Beta form but Google has disclosed to publishes that it intends to expand the feature beyond the search and preview service that it currently is.
It has informed Publishes that it wishes to change the service to allow users to be able to purchase access to entire copies of books, and possibly download them to other devices.
Unfortunately for Google publishers are not too thrilled with the idea. In the past they have threatened litigation should Google attempt to infringe their copyrights and reaching agreements with publishers could be a long and difficult period for the service.
Many believe that consumers are not ready for digital books and prefer to curl up with a book after a hard day at work in front of a computer screen instead of staring back at one when you are trying to relax.
