Top 7 gadgets I’m waiting for (to arrive in Australia)

It’s not easy, being a gadget lover living in Australia.

The combination of distance and population factors mean that we don’t often feel all the love we’d prefer from gadget manufacturers.

To wit, here’s a top 7 list of announcements I’m anxiously awaiting (if these things ever make it here at all):

  1. iTunes music store
  2. Peugeot 1007
  3. JVC Everio GZ-MC500
  4. Nokia 6822
  5. Mac OS X Tiger
  6. Sharp SL-C3000
  7. Tholos

On the iTunes Music Store, the latest round of rumours will no doubt be sparked by an article in one of the Fairfax papers on the w/end claiming Apple have been booking iTunes ads in the music magazines, to appear in May… (can’t re-locate the article I was reading to provide a link)

  2. Pascoe – Awesome! I’ve been hearing rumours for the launch happening on April 28. So the two hand in hand work well. Having said that, as I said to Kap, I think I’ve been in this position before :)

Tiger is just around the corner as well. Who kows, I could be buy iTunes music shortly on OS X 10.4.

According to the AppleTalk forums, it’ll be May 1st for Tiger and a little later in May for the iTMS:

but I’ve heard too many misinformed rumours on release dates (esp. recently) to let myself become that excited.

A pity the Zaurus doesn’t have built in wirless – having to have a card in the CF slot means the cards antenna sticks out too far. :)

About the 6822… I don’t know, the keyboard is tempting, but I decided to take the 7610 instead, it has Symbian (lots of 3rd party apps) and quite a proper camera. I use it a couple of months now and it’s a breeze. Only thing is, no keyboard. So I’m deciding if I’m gonna take the overpriced bluetooth keyboard and I think I will since I’m a unix-console-junkie and then I’m able to remotely control my servers from everywhere! (and of course, SMS like there’s no tomorrow) :-)

    the keyboard:

BTW, I think ‘keyboard-logo’s’ are gonna be the latest trend! ;-)

There is a provider in Australia (http://www.kepastore.com.au/product.php?cid=121&pid=4), but considering the pricetag you are probably better off buying one from ebay or http://www.pricejapan.com/ as recommended on the open embeded forums (http://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showforum=8)

    Cheers!
