Visa Mini.

Visa Mini

When is it that something moves from extremely fashionable, to completely unfashionable. When a bank uses it to get you to use their credit card.

Introducing, the National Visa Mini, so fashionable you can wear it out. Or so they tell us.

More at Visa Asia Pacific.

At only 40 millimeters by 66 millimeters, Visa Mini is nearly half the size of a standard-sized Visa card. With a perforated hole in the bottom left corner, you can attach the Visa Mini to your key chain, mobile phone or other carry-along device!

Call me crazy, but I think this is a great idea.

It would be even better if the card was more like a quarter of the current size (i.e. closer to the size of an actual key).

If they did the same thing with a driver’s licence, you could attach them both to your key ring and not have to bother with a wallet.

So it’s not just animated dogs and knock-off MP3 players that are ‘paying homage’ to the iPod – now the fad has extended to credit cards. I have enough worries about losing my credit card without Visa kindly making it half the size! This has ‘gimmick’ written all over it – do they think that because it’s a ‘cool’ colour, you’ll be more inclined to show it off and therefore spend more?

True, the multiple colour thing is stupid, but a card small enough (and with a punch hole) to be *attached to your key ring* wouldn’t be hard to keep track of.

Racking up credit card debt in style! Especially with Australia’s ever-increasing rate of personal debt.

Granted that cards nowadays have anti-fraud security mechanisms and the like, its not going to stop those who want to mug you of your card and other valuables. Especially if it’s dangling there for everyone to see.

“Wear it out” certainly is riddled with double entedres!
