Cisco and Apple will both use iPhone name

The dispute over who can use the iPhone name is now over. The winner? Both of them. Cisco Systems Inc and Apple Inc have agreed to settle their trademark dispute over the use of the name iPhone with both companies allowed to use the name for their respective products.

The two companies made the announcement on Wednesday and further agreed to explore opportunities for making their products work better together ‘in the areas of security, and consumer and enterprise communications.’

Cisco Systems Inc sued Apple Inc on January 10, a day after Apple chief executive Steve Jobs unveiled the iPhone.
