Marathon PB Via SMS.
In an Australian first for overuse of technology, people running in this weekends Sydney Marathon can receive their times via SMS. Runners will wear a transponder around their ankle which will record the time they cross the start and finish lines, nothing new. A laptop at the finish line will then calculate their time which is then sent via Telstra to a nominated mobile. Haven’t they heard of a stop watch.
Also at the event staff will be using Telstra’s Push To Talk service, which allows a mobile phone to work just like a walkie-talkie.
More info at Telstra’s Press Release.
