Synaptics MobileTouch
Synaptics, worldwide supplier of capacitive touch sensing devices, like trackpads on notebook computers, have announced the MobileTouch, a touch sensitive interfaces aimed at mobile phones and other compact devices.
They claim that for years the user interface for mobile phones has lagged behind the technological innovation, and they aim to rectify it by using the touch wheel styled solution that has functions for navigation, selection, input and scrolling. Manufacturers can choose to implement all or just some of these features, allowing them to use those functions that make most sense for their consumers.
Being fans of the iPod and it’s touch sensitive wheel, the MobileTouch looks good to us, anything that makes for easier navigation of all the crap we store in mobile phones these days can’t be a bad thing.
