4G iPod Audio Problems?
iPod Lounge are reporting that the classy new 4G iPod’s have a problem with static on the headphone jack when the hard drive is being accessed. The problems don’t affect all new iPod hardware, but all the affected units seem to have been ordered directly from Apple, manufactured in China and shipped from Shanghai.
iPod Lounge are asking people to check their iPods using the Apple loseless encoder. Doing so should force the iPod to access the hard drive between tracks, which will make the problem easier to detect.
If any readers have noticed such a problem with their new iPod, leave a comment and let us know.

My Ipod is a Ipod Mini that has the same exact problem with static. I am mad because my Ipod is basicly eight months over warrenty and now they wont fix it. This is troubling since i’ve had about 4 problems with it.
I have a 4GB nano and now the left side of the headphones dont work. If i wiggle the jack around i can start to get sound, but then it goes back out. I’ve tried three pairs of headphones. Then i tried them on my brothers ipod and all the headphones worked fine. they work on my computer too. its only on the ipod
I’ve got exactly the same problem than mike, but with the right side of the headphones… Does somebody has a solution for that ?
I just bought a 30 GB 5th generation iPod. Only the right audio channel works. There is no stereo sound. I live in Shanghai. I’d willing to bet it was made in Shanghai as well.
