Oils In 5.1 On The ABC.

Midnight Oil

The time has come, a fact’s a fact, it belongs to them, let’s give it back.

That’s right Oils fans, get it in yahs. ABC is set to bring them to life in 5.1 Dolby Surround Sound, Sunday night, March 9, on their Standard Definition Digital TV channel. Almost worth going out and buying a set top box for. Well, if you couldn’t just go and buy it on DVD now anyway. Whatever. Worth tuning in with a coupla cans of VB, fur sure.

The concert on the island was a 10th birthday gift to triple j, with an audience of 500 brought there in utter secrecy. It was broadcast twice in its original form, on TV and FM radio nationally, and then buried for nearly 20 years, becoming one of the great unavailable properties of the band.

Chris adds ‘The¬†concert video¬†has been a miracle of exhumation, reclamation and restoration – the pictures have been completely re-colour graded, and the sound completely re-mixed to 2004 standards and expectations – all in preparation for a very long-awaited DVD release in April (2004).’

DBA has the dig on the gig.

Looks like the DBA screwed up. There is no Sunday March 9th, March 9th is a Wednesday. Looking at the TV schedules this was rebroadcast Sunday January 9th, or yesterday.

  2. Richard says:

Damn DBA. I’ll remember that for next time, and fact check the site. Thanks for pointing that out Mark.
