Foxtel PVR A Killer.
Australian IT has an article on Foxtel’s “killer” PVR (Personal Video Recorder) that is due next year. The first of the trial units are made by Pace Micro, but the claim in the article is “Foxtel’s boxes do not have the advertisement-skipping function available on some PVRs”. It’ll be interesting to see how quickly someone hacks the unit and changes that “feature”. The article also mentions Sky+, the service that Fox runs in the UK which sells for £99 and a slightly higher monthly subscription fee (£10 extra) unless you’re on one of their premium packages. Not that we think that the prices will be mirrored here in Australia, but the article does imply it.
